Tyler started began his path to being a country star whilst a teenager in Slapout Alabama, whilst playing 4 hour cover sets and mixing this with doing his shifts as a firefighter initially in Montgomery and then later used the firefighting as a reason to head to music city Nashville. This allowed him the opportunity to earn a living whilst getting started in the music world. It was a set at his homegrown Whiskey Jam in 2017 that set him on the path that would lead to where he is today. Tyler`s hit "Devil You Know" attracted over 10+ million views across social media in just two weeks and having now shared the stage with some of the top country singer Luke Bryan, Brooks & Dunn, Chris Stapleton to name a few he is over here in the UK supporting Brothers Osborne on their tour and we were privileged to be invited along to his show in Glasgow and boy did he smash it out the park with a performance that was worthy of being the headliner. We caught up with Tyler ahead of the shows for a chat.

You were raised in Slapout Alabama which has a small population what was it like for young Tyler growing up were you raised in a proper country fashion?

Slapout was very small when I was there and now has grown some what, I listened to country music growing up and had all the sun of living in a rural area with lots of space and used to drive myself to school at 14 are there wasn`t many people about .

Growing up in Alabama is there much difference in country music compared to Texas for a example ?

Not really I grow up listening to a lot of Kenny Chesney and The Chicks and George Jones but although they all come out of different places the roots of country is always the same .

What was it that made you want to be a country singer as opposed to other genre.

Manly because what I was raised on I spent a time in rock bands and the live aspect of that was great but it always came back to country roots.

Before you became a country singer you spent some time as a firefighter ?

Yes I worked a firefighter in Montgomery and this allowed me to do the music between shifts and it was a friend that suggested the move to Tennessee as I would have more opportunities being closer to Nashville and the fire service allowed that opportunity. I loved both careers and the firefighting was a very rewarding position but yes that`s what brought me the opportunity to come to Nashville and be where I am today.

If the country music stopped tomorrow would you go back to firefighting or try something new?

Ha Ha as much as the firefighting was rewarding I don`t think I have the fitness to go back again now so would probably look to try find something within the music industry.

Coming from a small town and playing the Whiskey Jam back in 2017 and now to be stepping out into the large crowds you are playing for how does that feel ?

It is incredible especially when the crowds are singing your songs back and you realise that people are listening to your songs it makes you realise that you are living somebodies dream and I believe this helps keep me humble. To be in the position that others dream about.

Your single Devil You Know had 10+ million streams in 2 weeks how does that make you feel?

Yes it has been amazing to play it all over the world we played in Australia and thousands singing it back to you is just amazing and really happy that we are here in the UK to be playing for you guys for the first time , as it wasn`t released when we were last here.

One of our listener`s has asked " Losing One " Is a pretty powerful song is there a meaning behind it , what is the story behind it ?

There wasn`t really anything behind it is was more empathy and thinking being happily married what it would feel like to lose that and trying to get how that would feel across.

Your new single " How It Starts" is out and is a nice twist on a break up being more a merry song?

Yes it was looking at how the relationships starts it was trying to put that same feeling into the end of a relationship as to the start. Music can be anything you make it and that is what we made it and we shot the video for it at my own house so it was great fun with it.

We have a few of our listeners contact us asking when will we see a Tyler Braden Headline show?

That is something we are working on hopefully by the end of the year and if not then the start of the new year but yes as soon as possible.

We asked if he was going to be brave and come out with a kilt on to which he replied with a laugh and that he would think about it .

If you get the chance to catch Tyler either on this tour With Brothers Osborne or on his own snap them tickets up and you can rest assured you will have a fantastic show.
